There are amazing places to be visited in Aspen, below are the top 3 things to do and see in Aspen.
Fantastic Mountain Views -Silver Queen Gondola
A ride up the Silver Queen Gondola provides fantastic views of the mountains surrounding Aspen from
the top. At 11, 212 feet the views are truly spectacular! Riding the gondola you also get some terrific
views of Aspen itself, until it disappears behind a mountain. If you are physically fit consider hiking up
the mountain and maybe taking the Gondola down. We considered hiking down but were discouraged
by a local sharing that the hike down was harder on the knees/legs than the hike up. In the summer
there are nature hikes and activities for kids at the mountain top.
Beautiful and Majestic - The Maroon Bells
Any visit to the Aspen area must include a visit to the Maroon Bells. We snow mobiled in years ago in
the Winter which was awesome. This summer we returned and it was so simple. Just take the bus from
Rubey Park Transit Station (free) in downtown Aspen to Aspen Highlands where you transfer to the
Maroon Bells Bus (fee). There is no food at the Maroon Bells and limited food at the Aspen Highlands, so
we stopped by the "Big Wrap" to pick up some sandwiches before boarding the bus. The guide/driver
provides some great insight into the area and the Maroon Bells. We enjoyed our picnic lunch before our
gentle hike around Maroon Lake and then to the waterfall.
A Challenging Golf Course That is Hard to Tame
This is an awesome golf course which will challenge your golftalent and you patience to play it well.
Forget the altitude! That's no excuse as the course winds around the foothills of the mountains of
Snowmass. The challenge is almost a target golf venue, staying out of the native grasses, scary bunkers
and demanding greens. The greens are tiered, mounded or undulating. Additionally they are surrounded
by thick rough and huge mounds and hillsides as the majority are set down into a "bowl". Bunkers both
fairway and greenside have massive rolling mounds around them adding to the challenge of the course.
