What makes air travel the safest and the most trusted way to travel is the strict security arrangements and check-in procedures observed by all airlines at the airport. But more often than not, if I were to ask the one thing you hated about air travel, the chances of you naming check-in procedure would be rather high. Yes, it can take up a lot of time and can sometimes even be tiring but we need to understand that it is for our safety. Allegiant Air too has check in procedures in place which are meant to ensure your safety. But let me tell you that if we were to read about these check in procedures well in advance of getting to the airport we can make the procedure a lot more comfortable and avoid any hassles.

Firstly, make sure that you reach the airport at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure. Make sure that you get yourself checked-in 45 minutes before the scheduled departure because the ticket counter closes after that. Coming early has an incentive if you have not pre-purchased tickets as you will be participating in the open seating policy where the seats are allotted on a first come first serve basis. For passengers who have pre-purchased the tickets and have pre-selected seats, arriving at the gate any later than 45 minutes before the scheduled departure would mean the forfeiture of the pre-selected seats.

Also make sure that you are not carrying any alcohol on-board as per the rules by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which states that if any alcohol is consumed on-board, it has to be served by a crew-member.

Allegiant Air gives you two options of check-in which are-

  • Online Check-In
  • From the Check-in Counter

Online Check-in is exclusively for passengers who choose to pre-purchase tickets. These passengers also have the option to pre-select their seats at a nominal fee. Passengers who check in online can skip all other queues and go straight to the baggage counter to get their baggage security checked. While boarding, passengers with pre-selected seats will board the aircraft first after which the passengers who are a part of the open seating system will board the aircraft. The seat numbers are either printed on the boarding passes or distributed on a different card at the time of check in during the open seating system.

Also, if you are 18 years old and are traveling alone, your age verification is a must for Allegiant Airlines. If you fail to produce an adequate proof, you will be denied boarding the aircraft. All other passengers above 18 need to bring an identification issued by a state or a national government which can be the driving license or passport of the passenger. Passengers not carrying a photo ID will be asked to go through a secondary screening search.
